Discover Burgos

Hello Spaneasiers! How are your Spanish classes going? Are you enjoying your time in our school? We hope you are doing fine! On today’s post we want you to transport yourself to a beautiful city of Spain that you probably haven’t visited: Burgos.

Burgos is a city located in Castilla y León, in the north of Spain. It is a beautiful province and city because it has so many important monuments and buildings. To get there, we recommend doing a road trip with your own car and with some friends because it only takes a few hours to get in there. You can also go by bus, it is a cheap option and it takes the same time if you go by bus. This time, we don’t recommend going by train!

If you’re looking for a place to stay, if you go with some friends we recommend going to an Airbnb because you will be able to cook your own meals, which it makes this trip cheaper. But if you don’t care about getting a kitchen there are plenty of hotels and hostels around the city.

Once you get there and you have a place to stay, you have to visit Burgo’s Cathedral. It is the most important building of the city, and it is also so beautiful! This cathedral was the first gothic cathedral built in Spain. If you want to get in you have to pay seven euros but it’s totally worth it! If you don’t want to pay for it, every Tuesday afternoon they open it so you can get in for free.

Near the cathedral, you will find a viewpoint called the Castle’s Viewpoint, where you will be able to see the hole city. It’s the perfect place to take pictures or to breath fresh air while you relax with those views. As it is named, it is near the castle of the city, which it doesn’t look like a castle anymore. Nevertheless, you can get in for free and you will see its walls and the views from there are great!

If you’re looking for a place to walk and eat, you should look around the Espolón Street. Near this street, you will find an important arch called Santa María’s Arch. It’s beautiful and the street makes you want to wonder around and sit in a bench.

Lastly but not least, if you love museums you have to visit MEH’s museum where you will find expositions that goes through Atapuerca’s site discovery and human evolution. It costs six euros to get in but if you have the Youth Card you can get in for free.

That’s everything for today! We hope you liked today’s post and if you want to keep discovering places with us here you have a post where we talk about Ibiza.

See you soon!
