Let’s go to the beach! (Madrid’s edition)

Hello Spaneasiers! How are your classes going? We hope that your Spanish is getting better with our teachers’ help and we also hope that you are enjoying the classes in our school. On today’s post, we want to show you the best lakes and rivers near Madrid so you can enjoy a beach day even if we are hundreds of kilometers away from the sea.

We wanted to start with a location that is well known around every person living in Madrid, as it is called: Madrid’s beach. This place is called Pantano de San Juan (in English San Juan’s Swamp). This place is ideal if you love going to the beach and it is a hot day in Madrid, and you need to sunbathe and swim with your friends. If you want to go, it’s free to get in and if you go by car there are free parking lots around the swamp.

If we go a little bit further, we will find Las Presillas de Rascafría. This place is one hour and a half away from Madrid if you go by car, you can go by bus too! It’s a beautiful place to enjoy in a sunny day as it has so many pools and plenty of space to be with your friends. The entry is free but if you go by car, you will have to pay 9 euros for the parking.

Fifty minutes away from Madrid, we can find La Playa de Alberche in the Aldea del Fresno. The entry is free and parking only costs 2,50 euros. This is a great place to enjoy with family or with a group of friends, and if you have a pet you can bring your dog with you! The water is great because it isn’t really deep.

Lastly but not least, this place is a bit far from Madrid but it’s a great place to visit if you have some time and you enjoy natural parks and hiking: we’re talking about Las Lagunas de Ruidera. This park is well known in Spain due its fauna and because it has six lakes where you can swim, the best one is La Laguna de Entrelagos because everybody says it is one of the cleanest ones.

And that’s everything for today’s post! We hope that you enjoyed it and if you go to any of these places, we hope you have fun. If you are looking for more places to swim and sunbathe you have to see this post about the best beaches in Spain. See you soon!
