Valencia in a nutshell

Hello Spaneasiers! Ready to visit more Spanish cities and practice Spanish? We’ve got the perfect plan for you. One of our favorite destinations to travel when we don’t have much time is Valencia. Why? Because it is not far away from Madrid, it is beautiful, it is sunny, and it has sandy beaches. Pack you stuff, we’re leaving!
Ciutat Vella
The old city and the modern city are mandatory visits. In Ciutat Vella, old city, there are many historic monuments and churches. If you travel by train, the first spot you need to stop by is the train station, Estación del Norte. It is amazing inside and outside. Keep walking and you’ll encounter the Main Square, Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Only a few steps away, the Miguelete will stand out right in front of you in Plaza de la Reina. Everything is so close that this square links to another one, Plaza de la Virgen, where the famous cathedral of Valencia is located.
We also suggest taking a walk around Barrio del Carmen, since you can’t miss Las Torres de Serranos, Las Torres de Quart, El IVAM and El Convento del Carmen.
Eating and drinking
As any Spanish city does, Valencia offers a big variety of bars to go to depending on the atmosphere you are into. If you want to try traditional meals and tapas, we recommend Las Cuevas, La Lola, El Dorita and La Galería. El Carmen is also a great location to go for a drink at night, since it is a typical meeting place for locals. You can meet your friends at Plaza del Tossal or Plaza del Negrito and then go dancing to Music Box.
Modern Valencia
Its great appeal is the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias. This edgy building complex will leave no one indifferent: aquarium, museums, gardens, cinema, opera, restaurants…Amazing! However, this is not the only thing you can do. There are many other places to visit while walking along the Turia shore, such as Palau de la Música, Parque de Cabecera, Bioparc and Parque Gúlliver.
We are in love with this city! But there are many other worthwhile cities in Spain like Zaragoza.
